Establishing the root cause of project failure
My client was unsure of why their project wasn’t delivering.
We were engaged to establish why. We looked at the governance structure of the organisation and the project. We looked at the flow of information between the project team and the Director. We looked at the resources in the project team. We looked into the capability of the resources. We reviewed the project schedule. We pulsed the business on the intended change. We conducted an overarching risk assessment.
The issue? No clearly defined roles and responsibilities. No risk register. Governance not operating as documented. Lack of clarity regarding vision and strategic objectives. Inconsistent messaging. Reactively managing change. No clear schedule or allocation of tasks. Limited active sponsorship.
What did we deliver? Support for the Project Team to create a project plan and a risk register. Risk coaching regarding developing mitigating actions and rating risk. A high level strategic communications and change plan, clearly aligning the project to the organisational strategy. Coaching in managing change and project delivery for key project resources. Uplifted Executive leadership capability in managing change and sponsoring change initiatives through workshops and 1:1 mentoring.
